Timber Sales
Nortruss Builders Supplies is the largest distributor of timber across Northern Australia, with stocks ranging from home grown softwoods and hardwoods to a large selection of imported timbers. Our range is so extensive that other timber distributors often buy from us.
We can source specialty timbers including (subject to availability) Batu, Kapur, Merbau, Spotted Gum, Hoop and Slash Pine, Oregon, Tasmanian Oak and Meranti just to name a few.
If it’s structural timber you require for your building project then our Winnellie yard offers Darwin’s best ‘one stop shop’ for builders. We have everything you need, plus the expertise and local knowledge to complement our quality products.
Nortruss carries Darwin’s largest range of kiln dried timber flooring which is favoured by Top End builders for its consistent moisture content and stability in tropical climates. Spotted Gum, Tassie Oak, Jarrah and Merbau flooring are popular flooring options which we regularly supply to commercial and residential projects.
Nortruss also stock the largest range of plywood in Northern Australia, providing everything from structural treated products to A grade face plywood for exposed conditions and special applications. Meranti plywood is sourced from Malaysia and has been tailor-made for use in the tropics.
Our timber yard has modern precision machinery which is used for ripping and dressing timber to order, allowing us to produce timbers to any size or application needed by builders.
Tropical timber imports
Nortruss sources all its imported tropical timbers from accredited suppliers in the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak, with whom the company has long-standing partnerships.
These companies all observe International Tropical Timber Council and Malaysian Timber Certification Council standards. This includes chain of custody certification to ensure all timber is logged legally and in compliance with the requirements of forest management standards.
The Forestry Department of Sarawak, for example, has implemented log tracking as a measure against illegal logging and limits the harvesting of timber to protect forestry assets and promote sustainable forestry. Only mature trees can be felled, leaving a residual stand with sufficient trees to form the next crop.
