Gorrkbuy Industrial Supplies
On 20 December 2007, Nortruss announced its purchase of Gorrkbuy Industrial Supplies in Gove, financed by ANZ Capital. Managing Director of Gorrkbuy, Denise Fincham, will in turn purchase a substantial shareholding in Nortruss and join the Nortruss Board.
The company will continue to trade as Gorrkbuy Industrial Supplies (GIS), with Sales Manager Pat Laverty being promoted to General Manager of GIS.
Gorrkbuy was established in Gove 20 years ago by Denise Fincham. The company has 12 staff (three of them at Gorrkbuy’s freight management depot in Darwin) and is Northern Australia’s remote areas specialist, supplying building and industrial products to Aboriginal communities and mining companies.
GIS staff take pride in personalised, quality service tailored to individual clients’ needs as well as professional freight consolidation services through its Darwin freight depot.
In consultation with Aboriginal communities, GIS developed a prefabricated modular building suitable for construction in remote communities. It provides the logistics needed to deliver buildings to some of the most remote parts of Australia and has supplied more than 200 domestic and commercial buildings throughout Arnhem Land.
As a franchise of the Territory’s largest steel distributor, Onesteel Metaland, GIS stocks a range of steel products, as well as BOC industrial gases delivered daily to Alcan. It is part of a plumbing supplies buying group BIGA and sells electrical and paint products in addition to the building products supplied by Nortruss.
In 2006 GIS Metaland was awarded the “Best BOC Distributor in West Australia and the Northern Territory”.
